We have entered year four of the development and things begin moving fast. More and more dive centers all around the world have applied DiveShopManager to their dive centers during the last three month. The time is more than ripe to start working with a reliable software to organize the ever growing load of paperwork in a dive center. The DiveShopManager Community is steadily growing and we have had a lot of feedback from our users. Lately we have made many small adjustments to the software according to those individual wishes.

Now we have great news from our development center; the dive center software DiveShopManager has just been updated and a new version has been released with this update. DSM 2.03 has now even more statistic views and print possibilities. For example the Sales/Article part of the customer invoice has now a separate print button for detail printing in case of warranties. Additionally some more specific print possibilities have been added to the cash box statistics and some overall performance improvements have been made.

We also had to widen some summary number fields for our customers in Turkey and Indonesia. These guys become millionaires on daily bases. Nevertheless, there weren’t many bugs to fix what showed us that DSM is now running absolutely stable and without any crashes on all systems XP,Mac OX10+ and even on Windows Vista.

For our Macintosh users, we have upgraded DSM to work on the new Mac Panther and Mac Leopard versions as well.

DiveShopManager 2.03 is now available for download. The free 30 days trial version gives you the chance to try DSM for a whole month before you make any decision. The new website is dedicated to the community of Koh Tao, a beautiful island in the Gulf of Siam. Surrounded by tropical waters and rich coral reefs, Koh Tao has become a Mecca for thousands of scuba divers. With over 30 beautiful dive sites Koh Tao offers great diving all around the year. On land, the island has become greatly multi cultural. Scuba divers from all around the globe meet on Koh Tao, many of them coming back to the paradise island every year. But like so many small island communities, Koh Tao also has its share on difficulties. The website was funded by ProData WebWorx to at least help solving some of the urgent matters.

One big problem is erosion. To accommodate all the visitors on the island, a lot of building activities has taken place during the past 10 years. New roads have been built to reach higher land. Many Bungalow resorts have been built. And sure not all for the better of Mother Nature. A project to plant trees along places that are in danger of erosion on Koh Tao is one of the issues we will discuss on this community site. NEUTURING, VACINATION AND MANGE TREATMENT PROGRAMME (NVMTP) 2007
We are planning an island wide neutering, vaccination and mange treatment program for 2007. The general plan is to do an initial survey to assess exactly the needs of the different areas - Sairee, Mae Head, Jansom Bay, Chalok Baan Khan, Aow Leuk, Tanote & Mao Bay, Mango Bay and Nangyuan. Once we have an idea of the needs of each area then we plan to send out two teams each consisting of a vet, vet nurse and two catchers to one area at a time and work our way around the island. The Orbitor has offered us their support and we have had productive initial discussions with WSPA and also Pfizer – who make the vaccines. We will also be looking to other organisations for funding. This is a huge project but will believe will make a lasting and significant difference to both the animal and the human population of Koh Tao. Keep an eye on the web site for a copy of the proposal.

The first software package for dive centers and dive resorts is finally ready for download. We first have added a test version. That does not have the purpose to tell us where the bugs are, I guess we cached them all by now. What we want to achieve with the test version is to provide perfect software, suitable for every dive center around the globe. Therefore we need to know if the software suits your personal situation. The great variety of locations and sizes of dive resorts are covered due to the great flexibility of DiveShopManager. All modules can be fitted and scaled to suit any dive center we have heard of. We have put ourselves right in the heart of the diving industry to work out the details for the software. Most of the parts where developed on Koh Tao - Thailand.

For those who have never heard about Koh Tao, the island is only 21sqkm in size but has 45 Dive Resorts. With many friends on the island who have been working as scuba diving instructors all around the world, we have gathered all available information and implemented them into DiveShopManager 2.0.

Our first version has been running in only one dive resort for 22 month now without any problem. We have made hundreds of changes since. We have developed new modules, like the hotel booking software, or the rental software for all rental affairs in a dive center.

The dive roster adds dives to invoices and wages automatically and delivers a complete dive log for the customer at the end of he’s/her stay. Athens 5th of February 2006Â

From the day that the new law that frees all Greek seas to divers came into effect, feelings of hope and joy filled all the divers in the country.
In order to celebrate the effect of this new law, all divers were gathered at Kavouri bay near Vouliagmeni in Athens and organized a diving celebration event. Dive centers provided their rib boats, and everybody brought their diving gear in order to conduct a symbolic dive to a place that until now it was forbidden to dive.

The event was covered by the Greek Media with the presence of politicians from the government and the Opposition parties and representative from the Department of Underwater Antiquities.

The symbolic dive was followed by beach cleaning activity showing the sensitivity and concern of Greek divers about environmental issues.

The event closed with a banquet at the beach.

This brand new start symbolizes the beginning of a new period for the diving lovers either from Greece or from abroad promising a new experiences to those interested finding new and interesting dive destinations.

The new bill prepared by the Ministry of Mercantile Marine regarding recreational diving in Greece, is the outcome of the Hellenic Government’s Strategic Plan for positioning Greece prominently into the world’s scuba diving industry, and in addition for boosting the country’s alternative tourism.

The new diving law is fully in accord with the EU Standards regarding recreational diving, which have actually been in force since early 2004. Moreover the unreasonable restrictions imposed in the past by archeologists are now being successfully modified and the concept of Diving Parks has been firmly established.

Notably, the legislative framework provides adequate environment protection, ensures the appropriate respect for the underwater precious antiquities, as well as the safety and adequate professional skills of the divers, who will enjoy clear waters, plus unique marine life and other hitherto unutilized underwater attractions.

An accreditation system consonant to EU directives is being established for the Scuba Divers Training Programs, for the appropriate certification of various Diver Training Organizations, as well as for the Diving Services Providers. The Diving Services are classified according to their type, they are certified on an individual basis by an accredited products certification agency and each of them will be licensed by the competent Port Authority.
